April 2022 Highlights

Make things happen! That has been my ongoing yearly mantra. This month was certainly one for making things happen!

We started off the month with starting some home renovations! Okay, nothing too crazy like taking out walls (though we wanted to), but a lot of changes have occurred! More detailed post coming soon!

At the beginning of the month, we went to the local theater to see the Giraffes Can’t Dance play. It was cute. The kid’s enjoyed the songs 🎵.

We celebrated Harrison turning 3! What!? Already!? 😭😭 We celebrated at the park nearby with family, cake, and presents. He requested a monster jam theme this year. He was so excited about everything!

What started as an okay day on the 11th, turned into a somewhat rough day, which then turned around into a spur of the moment activity. I had been dealing with body pains that left me wanting to do nothing all morning. Around 1pm I was browsing Facebook when I saw a reminder for an easter egg hunt our insurance company was doing; find the egg and bring it in for a basket of goodies. We had tried to find it last year and failed. I asked the kids if they wanted to go look for the egg and of course they said yes. We drove the 3 minutes to where we thought the clue lead us. We got out and started searching. We weren’t even there for 10 minutes before Wylan found the egg! Isla picked it up and we headed to the car. We took the egg to exchange it for the basket. They were so excited about it!

Easter weekend was a busy one! The kids and I accompanied my best friend downtown to participate in a CluedUp murder mystery game. It was fun for the most part, definitely not recommended for kids like 12 and under. It was something different and the whole experience was fun to do. The only pictures I got are of Isla and the 2 things she wanted to take pictures with. In the end we did solve the case, it took us about 3.5 hours and a whole lot of walking.

We headed home afterwards where we met Chris and got ready to go to my family’s Easter shindig. This time we decided to do a brunch themed menu, a bounce house, and of course an egg hunt. It was a good eventful day!

Not pictured is the biscuits and gravy and the quiche that I made. P.s. Fruit infused sausage is YUM!

Which then brought us to Easter day. Easter morning the kids woke up to find their baskets and eggs.

Later in the afternoon, we went to Chris’ parent’s house. Both his parents were there along with both of his grandmothers and his uncle. I did make a blueberry bundt cake for the occasion which turned out really good.

The kids had a 4 day weekend for Easter. The Monday after Easter they asked to go to Target to spend their money that they were gifted, along with their newly acquired debit cards that they can earn money on for doing extra chores. I am trying to instill smart money skills early. To start, I asked them all to have an idea in mind what they are looking for so that we aren’t all over the place and feeling overwhelmed. Wylan was easy, he just wanted vbucks. Isla wanted everything. Harrison just wanted cars. It was a fun experience, especially at the checkout when they were learning how to scan, bag, and pay for their items.

Isla wound up doing eenie meenie miney moe on the dolls to choose one; she wound up getting baby Elsa and a lunch pack from the deli. Harrison got a pack of construction and emergency vehicles, 2 nascar cars, a family size bag of cheetos, and a lunch pack. Wylan got a vbucks giftcard, a turkey wrap, and gummybears.

Last year we grew some pumpkins in our yard. This year we decided to dabble a little more! We started our seeds in the house this go round, towards the end of the month. We decided on bell peppers, cucumbers, strawberries, mini pumpkins, and jack-o-lantern pumpkins. We are excited to see them grow!

At the end of the month, I decided that I had enough of my dark hair. If you have been here awhile, you know how much I love my colored hair. I really wanted something that I would keep through summer. I decided on light pink. My hair, on the other hand, decided not to fully cooperate and and only sections of it took to the pink. I then decided, okay fine, let’s throw purple on top of this. Here is that outcome…

I actually quite love it! P.s. stay tuned for my Spring Outfit Challenge coming soon!

We finished out the month with my niece’s 9th birthday party [29th] and then going to Monster Jam [30th-today] in Lincoln, NE. Afterwards we went to dinner at Parker’s Smokehouse in Ashland, NE.

Now we are gearing up for the Summer months and I am actually excited about it!
