February 2022 Highlights

February, the shortest of the months in the year. Some of the days were long this month for me. Long days, short month. Just because it was short doesn’t mean it was uneventful though! Here is where I found joy this month.

I finally was able to get rid of my broken dresser. And by “get rid of” I mean no longer use for clothes and am going to repurpose it. I spent well over 3 months looking for used ones and not being able to find what I needed. I decided to bite the bullet and buy new ones. Of course I then had to get all the matching pieces for our room, 2 dressers and 2 night stands. Somehow I became the Hulk and moved all the furniture out by myself, built everything, and carried it upstairs. My hands wound up sore and blistered and my body was angry at me for a few days afterwards. But the fun part was by time I got to the 3rd piece of furniture I didn’t even need the directions. Chris says I am a professional and should make a side job out of it 😅.

On Sunday the 6th, we were out and about. We went to a couple different places, including a pizza place Chris had been wanting to try for awhile called Spin! Pizza. He said it was very good and the kids enjoyed their gelato. After eating we set out to go to a used book store. On the way there, I realized the kids had a lot of pent up energy and were being a bit “crazy” in the car. We took a detour and ended up going to Urban Air instead.

Urban Air considers themselves an indoor adventure park. They have plenty of trampolines, a warrior course, a play gym area, a rope course, a virtual reality area, and bumper cars. I think everyone else in town had the same idea though, it was super busy. We spent around 2 hours there. The kids really liked it.

Here is a little story…before we headed out on the 6th, I had pulled the car out of the garage to look for something. After looking, I noticed a small puddle on the garage floor and I told chris. He checked it and discovered it was coolant. Of course that prompted an investigation. Apparently the thermostat housing was leaking coolant. On our outing we stopped by the part store and picked up a new one. That next evening Chris put the new one in, but something wasn’t right and it was leaking from the sensor that is on the thermostat. Luckily for us, my brother works for a company that sells parts. He was able to get us the new part at a fraction of the cost.

Normally for car related things, Chris takes the lead. I have been thinking a lot about cars lately and how I don’t know a lot outside of how to drive them. I told Chris to teach me and he showed me how to take the thermostat unit out. I successfully removed the thermostat! 😲

During this time, the kids were playing in Chris’ car. Of course they had to push all the buttons inside of it. Chris eventually noticed that part of his headlights were on. He went to turn them off, but couldn’t figure out how. He was getting very frustrated. I recommended taking the battery off and putting it back on. As he was about to do that, I sat in the driver seat and pushed the first button I saw. Immediately Chris says, “what did you just do!?” I asked if it worked. He said, “what did you do!?” I said, “are they off now?” He said yes and asked what I did. Of course, I am laughing by this point because he is the car guru around here. I guess he didn’t know he had a parking light button on top of his steering wheel. Between that and taking out the thermostat unit, we decided I am a professional now. 😂😂😂 Not literally, obviously, but the moment brought me joy and it is something I want to remember happening. 😅

That following Monday was haircut day for the 2 boys. Here are their before and afters, they are so handsome and growing up so fast!

Harrison will be 3 in April already!
My big kid 😭

I also was able to spoil myself a little bit! I did a major book haul; getting most of what is on my 2022 Book List from Target [buy 2 get one free] and Thrift books. We had gone inside of Target one day and I browsed through their book section. I wound up taking pictures of everything that caught my eye [not on my 2022 list] so I could check thriftbooks for them before buying new. I think the only ones left to get haven’t been released yet. I also got a couple books my mom wanted, Elizabeth Smart’s story and wound up receiving a signed copy; we thought that was pretty cool.

I was able to get an iPad pro and apple pencil! I am hoping that it will be a solid investment for my etsy shop, which will officially launch April 2nd! I have been enjoying drawing things on it and creating things for my shops (links to those in my menu).

If you are on a mobile device the menu is at the bottom of your screen. It is 3 horizontal lines inside the little white circle. Give it a little tappy and you should see the links!

This one was just for fun and skill building. Wylan wanted me to draw him with Sharingan eyes. You can’t tell in this photo, but they are there.

We had another date night! I told Chris we should alternate who plans them each month so this month was on him. We ended up at a board game cafe called Spiel Bound. We shared a pizza and chicken fingers. I had a snickerdoodle coffee and he had Lucky Bucket beer. We ended up playing 3 games; Raceway ’57, Harry Potter Trivial Pursuit, and Revolution of 1828. I quite enjoyed our time! Doing something different other than the typical date of just going to dinner (which would have been okay too).

Harrison and I dealt with a nasty sickness. It definitely didn’t feel the same as when I had covid, but it was awful. On Valentine’s day, he was doing better, but me…not even the slightest bit better. After dinner I was getting overheated and decided to lay in bed with a cool rag on my head. After a bit Harrison came in and was talking to me (he is talking so grown up now and that alone brings me great joy) and asked me if I would “put red on your t.v. and watch it together? Please mommy watch it with me on your tv?” He is referring to the Disney’s Cars movie; we watch all 3 of them every day, sometimes twice. I put it on and a few minutes in he says, “I love you my mom” and cuddled into me. A moment soon after he had me tickling his hand. Then I said here tickle mine. Then we kept going back and forth tickling each other. So precious. ❤ [one emotional urgent care trip later I found out I have bronchitis].

On the 26th we had a combined birthdays party at my sister’s house for her, her boyfriend, and my dad. The theme was bring a dish that starts with the first letter of your first name. I brought Jambalaya, Chris brought the cake, and the kids got in on it too; Wylan brought Watermelon juice, Isla brought icee pops, and Harrison brought honey buns. It was fun seeing what everyone brought to the party! There was somewhere around 30 people that came. We ate and did some karaoke. It was a lot of fun!
