Blogmas 2021 – Day 6 – Reclaiming My Sanity

I came across this tag from A Wise Woman In Progress called The 12 Questions of Christmas. If you have been around for a bit, you would know how much I enjoy questionnaires. I enjoy reading other people’s and learning about other ways of life. So today I decided to give it a go!

Question #1

How did you spend last Christmas?

Last Christmas we spent Christmas eve doing the Christmas things with Chris’ side of the family. On Christmas day, we spent the morning at home opening gifts and eating breakfast. We had ventured to my sister’s house to do my side of the family’s Christmas the weekend before. We ate, watched the kids open gifts, and exchanged secret Santa gifts.

How are you spending this Christmas?

As of right now we plan to have our typical Christmas’ in same fashion as the last. Although, my side is trying to decide on maybe doing different kinds of food this year than our usual ham dinner.

What is your favorite Christmas movie quote?

I don’t think I can pick just one, but the 2 I say the most are ” you’ll shoot your eye out kid” from A Christmas story and then there is this one..

If you could be in any Christmas movie, what would it be?

I think I would have to also go with Elf on this one, for the humorous parts.

Question #5

What is your favorite Christmas food?

Probably sweets, more specifically it would probably be cookies. I probably bake more cookies than anything else this time of year.

Do you prefer giving or receiving gifts?

I like both, but I definitely enjoy giving gifts! I try to get as sentimental as I can, is that weird of me? I don’t know. I just enjoy seeing people’s emotional responses to special things.

If you could be under the mistletoe with anyone who would it be?

Definitely the only person it will ever be! My husband! Love him to death! Though, I don’t recall ever being under a mistletoe…

What are a few of your favorite traditions?

Decorating the tree and driving around town looking at light displays.

What is a few traditions you will be missing out on this year?

Up until 2 days ago, I thought our tradition of each kid getting 1 big gift from us was not going to happen. But then it wound up working out and so as of now, everything is going according to the usual plan.

Where do you draw the line for Christmas sweaters? Do you go ugly or more cute?

I actually don’t own any Christmas specific sweaters. But, I don’t think I have a line and would wear ugly or cute ones.

Question #11

Have you ever had a white Christmas?

I have become accustomed to white Christmases. I expect them every single year. There have been a few green ones, but more often than not they are white here [Nebraska, USA].

Question #12

Do you use colored lights or white lights on your tree?

I prefer white ones usually, but we just do whatever feels right each year. This year would have been colored, but some of the lights stopped working. So we used what we had with the white ones.
