Joyous Fall

Today marks the first day of Fall [or autumn, if you prefer that term 😉]. This last week, Fall has been making it’s way here to stay. The cooler weather, the falling leaves, and that over all feeling of cozy!

It really hit me yesterday when I was able to sit at the school for pickup with the car off and windows down without feeling like I would melt. Nothing beats that fresh Fall air! It is just something I find joy in, fresh air, cool breeze, windows open; ahhh the life.

The mornings are very cool here, it is currently 5AM and it is a whopping 48°. By time school gets out for the day, it will be in the mid to higher 70s. It just makes me want to get all “basic” with my sweater/cardigan on, a beverage [iced coffee or tea], a book, and sit in the car with the windows down [I figured out I like to read that way].

Speaking of reading, I didn’t get through all of the books on my summer reading list. I decided to ‘transfer’ what was left from that list and pick up a few more books that pinterest says are Fall inspired. So here is my current list:

  • Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng
  • Dead Girls Society by Michelle Krys [just started this one yesterday]
  • A Totally Awkward Love Story by Tom Ellen and Lucy Ivison
  • Where The Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens
  • Liar, Temptress, Soldier, Spy: Four Women Undercover in the Civil War by Karen Abott
  • Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick
  • THE GARDEN OF LOST AND FOUND by Harriet Evans
  • Dark Witch by Nora Roberts

We will see how long it takes to get through all of those. I typically spend an hour reading in the car while waiting at the school for the kids to get out [yes, an hour, the lines are crazy].

Another reason to love Fall is because that means we are gearing up for the holiday season. I don’t know about anyone else, but we have already slowly started our Christmas shopping. Which, has actually already paid off for saving money. Maybe I will write more about that later…

Here in Nebraska, we love Fall. I think partly because we have pumpkin patches that seem to equate to something like Disneyland. There is just something about it that brings joy. Perhaps it’s more for the fact that we can enjoy being outside without overheating or freezing our butts off.

Pumpkin patches, bonfires, fuzzy socks, cool fresh air, cardigans or sweaters, baked goods, feel good meals, colorful scenery, less bugs, the impending holidays, and just the overall joyful feels of the season are just some reasons that I love Fall.

I wonder how many of these I can accomplish this season, hmmm.

What about you? Do you find joy in the season?
