Cringe By Association

I cannot be the only person ever to find certain things that relate to a memory, cringe worthy. I mean, if I am, that’s cool. But, I am pretty confident I’m not alone in this.

I think for me the most cringe jerking things are songs. I have a list of songs that I cannot stand, simply because of what, or who, I associate it with. Sometimes something just ruins a song for me. Usually if any of these songs come up, I have to immediately hit next or change the station. I mentally gag at them…every. single. time. I thought it would be fun to share my list. Perhaps you have a cringe worthy song, movie, or whatever that you’d like to share with me, too. So here are mine.

  • The band 311
  • Hey There Delilah by Plain White T’s
  • Cherry Pie by Warrant
  • We Belong by Pat Benatar
  • Bruno Mars
  • Bubbly by Colbie Caillat
  • Lucky by Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat
  • Amazed by Lonestar
  • Every rose has its thorn by Poison
  • Shooting star by Bad Company

Those are the only ones I can think of right now. I could make the list much longer if I wanted to include songs that were ruined for me by being overplayed. But, I also don’t think I could remember every single one on the spot. Maybe next time? 😅

I want to know what makes your cringe list! Let me know in the comments!

  1. 311 was always strange to me.. the people who love them are fanatical. The people who hate dislike them aren’t halfway.. they hate them.
I cringe the term “new country” music. As if some of the old isn’t bad enough the new has gotten worse.
In my humble opinion, since 2000, there hasn’t been any band to come close to At The Drive in and Sparta.

    1. My 311 cringe comes from the association with a person. I don’t hate them personally, but the sound of them and the specific songs make me immediately hit next.
I prefer the old country actually. The new stuff is like country mixed with pop, which some is okay to me, but it definitely has changed a lot for the genre.
It took me a long time to fixate on a single band again, but I am really liking From Ashes to New these days.

      1. I’ve grown fond of bluegrass and indie. Tyler Childers music is really awesome. I’m not jazzed about some of the language or content but he’s really talented.
