Day three was actually to get rid of old socks. I actually already did this a couple weeks ago when I got my new (thrifted) dresser. So, I had to find another challenge for today. I have 2 lists I am going off of for when things like this occur. Is that cheating? I don’t know, but it will suffice for me!
So instead, today’s challenge is TO TURN OFF ALL SOCIAL MEDIA NOTIFICATIONS
I only use Instagram these days. I decided earlier this month to take a break from Facebook and after a couple weeks realized I didn’t miss it. I found it was not fulfilling me and honestly, what is the point anymore? I basically just use Instagram for this blog. I feel like it gives more personalization for people who want that sort of thing.
I feel like social media has become such a big part of people’s lives. My excuse use to be that it was the way I would keep up with my family, but if they really cared about that wouldn’t they message or call? I know it is a 2 way street, too. The people who care are involved outside of social media and technology.
I was realizing that the aimless scrolling was distracting me from dealing with actual life at times. I have a lot to accomplish for myself, and my family of 5. Frankly, Facebook isn’t on that list.
I challenge you to turn off your notifications for a day. Can you make it? Disable Facebook entirely and see how many times you find yourself going to click on the app icon that isn’t there anymore. It took me about a week and a half to break that habit. Give it a try and let me know how it goes!
Way to go on your Minimalism Challenge!
I agree about Social Media.

I Have not used Instagram in 2020! The commercials irritated me. Since I keep myself pretty busy, I have yet to miss it.
