Update on Bug

Life certainly has been on full speed since I landed in the hospital back in March awaiting the birth of our 3rd child. For those that haven’t read them yet, check out In The Hospital and Bug’s birth story to understand more. In short, he was born at 33 weeks and 5 days and spent 12 days in the NICU.

As of today, Bug is 3 months and 5 days old. He is around 15 pounds now (was 5 pounds 7 ounces at birth). He is wearing 0 to 3 month clothes. He seems to have shorter legs than my other kids did, but I am imagining that he will catch up at some point and be just as tall (if not taller). He is already in size 2 diapers, which seems crazy to me seeings as where he started. Unlike my other two kids he has (so far) kept his brown hair. My other two went blonde within months of birth.

He loves being swaddled when he sleeps. He is very much on a schedule, eating every 3 hours on the dot. He is starting to stay awake for longer periods of time and becoming more animated. He tries to coo and laugh. He particularly likes wall decor, he smiles at it all day long. He is usually pretty happy in the mornings. Lately he has gotten a bit more “needy” wanting to be cuddled and specifically seeming by me (mom). He will cry pretty ferociously sometimes just to be cuddled. I try to enjoy it while it lasts.

He hasn’t shown any signs of issues from being born early. We are very grateful for his health.

I am excited to watch him grow even more. I am excited for the holidays with him and how the older 2 get excited about having him involved.

At the same time, I don’t want it to pass too quickly. He has taught me how to appreciate the present and not spend my days focusing on the excitement of the future.

I am blessed to have him and his health. I just love my little bug.
