Day 19: How are you making the world a better place?
I cherish our Earth and the people (and most creatures) on it. I am not perfect by any means, but I do try to do my part.
I recycle everything that I possibly can. Even though my husband is a trash man and has job security in the trash business, I always feel guilty putting things out on the curb to end up sitting in a landfill. I feel like the Earth cries every time a new load is dumped. I do my best to recycle, sell, or reuse things. I have looked into composting and storing rain water, I just am too naive to jump on that right now (hopefully someday). I also pick up any litter when we are outside. Pickle has even started doing the same thing. I tell him we need to protect our Earth because as it sits now, we only have one.
I, personally, try to make the world a better place by not passing hate around. Let people be happy so long as no one is getting hurt. There is so much hate between people and cultures, it makes me so sad. I understand we have our differences, but that doesn’t mean we cannot be kind.
I am doing my best to raise my children to be more open minded than the generations of our past. I think that is a big part of people being able to be their true-selves and not confined to society’s box of “normal”. Theoretically, the more open minded people are of each other, the less hate there should be. We could all use a little less hate and a little more care.
What about you? How do you make the world a better place?
Until tomorrow,
Jenn
I think raising kids to be open-minded is one of the best ways to promote positive changes. Being childless I’ll be sticking to recycling 😉
