Alter Ego

If you haven’t heard this term before, well let me fill you in. An alter ego, is Latin for “the other I” like a person leading a double life.

I don’t live a double life, but I do think I know who my alter ego would look like.

2 words.

Carrie Bradshaw.

If you dont know who Carrie Bradshaw is, she is a character on the show Sex and the City.

Why Carrie?

Carrie is so many things that I aspire to be and can relate to.

Fashion. From first glance, you can tell Carrie loves fashion. She is always finding new, unique, looks.

One of her biggest dreams was to have a giant closet. Now, I don’t consider myself materialistic, but who wouldn’t love to have an endless wardrobe? Especially one as fashionable as Carrie’s. If I didn’t have to worry about money, I would have a wardrobe like hers.

Personality. Carrie is sarcastic, funny, loving, strong willed, and deep. I feel like I relate to her personality greatly. She is always there for the people she loves, but is also very blunt with them too. I am all too similar in nature.

Career. Carrie is a writer. The show is mainly built around the things she writes. Her writing is always deep and makes you look at things differently. I aspire to be an accomplished writer, like Carrie is. I have yet to figure out how far I want to go with it though.

City. I always thought it would be cool to live in a big city like New York City. Where everything is in walking distance and if it isn’t you yell for a taxi. In my mind, living like Carrie does in the city, it seems magical. In reality, I don’t really know if I could survive it, as fast paced as it is. Though, I would be willing to try.

Don’t get me wrong, I love who I am.  I wouldn’t give up anything I have to be Carrie. The fantasy is always there though.

What about you? Do you have an alter ego?

Happy Hump Day!
